Pure Clary Sage Oil | Salvia sclarea

Clary sage, also known as Salvia sclarea, is a biennial or short-lived herbaceous perennial belonging to the Salvia genus. Originating from the northern Mediterranean, as well as regions in North Africa and Central Asia, this plant boasts a rich historical legacy as a medicinal herb and is presently cultivated for its prized essential oil.

Reaching a height of 3 to 4 feet, Salvia sclarea features strong, square stems covered with fine hairs. Moreover, its leaves—measuring about 1 foot (0.30 m) at the base and 0.5 foot (0.15 m) higher up—show a wrinkled upper surface densely coated with glandular hairs. Additionally, the flowers, arranged in verticils of 2–6 blooms, are elegantly enclosed by vibrant and sizable bracts.

Pure Oil

The healing powers of Clary Sage essential oil have been known since ancient times, dating back to the time of Christ. Revered as a sacred herb by the Anglo-Saxons, it became a popular therapeutic tonic by the 16th century. People in medieval times often used Clary Sage, known as “clear eye,” to remove foreign particles from the eyes.

Clary Sage emerges as a potent relaxant among essential oils, standing out as a valuable asset in addressing an array of stress-related issues. People often compare its effects to a euphoric state similar to the sensations caused by alcohol. Although it shares some properties with Sage oil, Clary Sage stands out as a non-toxic and safer option for use.
